I’m wrong about something

I’m wrong about something

There are things I now believe to be true that I previously thought were false. There are other things that I was sure were true that I no longer believe.

The phrase that describes my idea of a good way to live comes from Ryan Holiday, “Strong Opinions Loosely Held.” When facts support my thinking, I need compelling evidence to change my mind. At the same time, I should actively seek evidence that contradicts my thinking in case I am wrong. When the evidence is compelling, I must change my mind.

What’s something significant about which you’ve changed you mind?

PS – If you cannot recall anything significant on which you’ve changed your mind, it may be time to consider whether you could be more open-minded. (If a stubborn old man like me can do it, you can too.)

Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.

Consequences are unpredictable

Prepare for the new year

If you want results, resolutions are overrated and everyday choices are underrated. Everyday choices are what led us to become who we are today. Our choices going forward will lead us to who we will become. Sometimes we realize we’d prefer to be someone different or...

Creativity through constraints

Not having everything you need can lead to unexpected solutions. Trish and I decided to have margaritas for Cinco de Mayo. We have plenty of Tequila and Grand Marnier, but we were short on mix. I prepped our drinks and they had a bit too much of a bite. Thinking about...

He who hesitates…

He who hesitates…

I have a habit of avoiding tasks that involve setting up appointments, especially when it’s going to cost me. Yesterday, I finally called the auto shop to arrange new tires for my summer car. Thinking I could get them quickly, I kept putting it off until the weather...
