Presence over presents

Presence over presents

Before I embraced minimalism, I loved receiving gifts. After I realized we have more than we need, gifts lost their appeal. I understand that some people get joy from giving and I appreciate the thought behind gifts. Still, less material gift-giving is more environmentally sustainable.

Most of our loved ones also have more than they need. As much as possible, we prefer to give experiences instead of material items. Maybe we can all do our part for the environment by giving fewer items and spending more time together.

Would you exchange presents for presence?

PS – If you want inspiration to embrace the joy of minimalism, check out my previous post, A home that gives you joy.

Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.
