Twenty

Twenty

To continue the tradition we started last year, Trish and I wrote another blog post to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Today marks 20 years.

On the day of our wedding, we never could have guessed where we would be and what we would be doing now. One of the keys to our success has been our willingness to adapt, grow and support the other person. Another is our ability to push each other to be the best version of ourselves. We often challenge each other, in a positive way.

At various times, we have each:
– Worked a second job to help us get by.
– Accepted an old car so the other person could have a new one.
– Taken time off to pursue a dream while the other paid the bills.
– Moved (or stayed put) when it suited the career aspirations of one of us.
– Stayed behind while the other person traveled overseas.

We have supported each other during difficult times and figured out how to overcome obstacles. Through good times and bad, through sickness and in health, we have grown stronger together.

What do you do to make sure you grow together with those you love?

Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.

Maybe it wasn’t about me

Many years ago, I saw a family friend that I had not seen since I was a kid. I said hello and I saw in her eyes that she did not recognize me. I was puzzled, maybe even a bit insulted. After all that time our families spent together, how could she forget...

Sometimes it pays to endure a bit of stress, work late and get stuff done. It's not much fun at the time, but the relaxation you earn might be worth it. The alternative is to race against deadlines. As deadlines approach, control evaporates. Choosing stress early...
