RBF be gone!
Most people seem to have either resting bitch face (RBF) or resting nice face. I’m not sure what drives it, but I’ve been wondering whether it’s simply practice. The more often you hold an expression, the easier it becomes. Eventually, the expression you use most most becomes your default.
I smile more than I used to, but I wonder why I most often have a “serious” expression. Is it driven by my thoughts? Maybe I spend too much time thinking about problem-solving (like I was when I was inspired write this). I wonder what will happen when I spend more time thinking happy thoughts, reminiscing about past shenanigans and planning new ones.
What is your default expression and how well is it working for you?
PS – Past misunderstandings and my new theory inspired me to try a new plan to leave the RBF club. If you suffer from RBF and want to join me in the quest, let me know.
Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.

In January, I published a blog post about living in a beautiful state. I am happy to report that Roli and I are still enjoying our walks even more that we used to before my epiphany. Now for my next obstacle to life in a beautiful state. Have you ever got...
Coyote
Animals scatter amidst feral teeth and claws coyote pack howls Inspired by a night last summer when we were woken up by the howling of coyotes in our neighborhood.
Are you going the wrong way?
When you are trying to get somewhere, you need to know where you are starting from to know which way to go. This was reinforced for me last winter when I got to an unmarked fork on the trail and proceeded to snowshoe three miles in the wrong direction....
Where are you headed?
My December challenge is to look at my actions each day and reflect on who I'm becoming as a result of those actions. The first day was interesting. Before I did some of my usual Sunday stuff, I stopped and thought about it. I took Roli on a nice hike as usual....
Process beats goals
It’s hard to believe that 2019 is almost over. A month from now, many people will seek a new start with the ever popular New Year’s resolution. I’m not a big fan of the tradition. If you want to make a change, why wait until the new year? On the other hand, if a new...
