Live in the now
Back when you could do such things, I was out on a boat fishing with a bunch of guys. Two of them started talking about what could have been if they had gone into or stayed in the military. It was amusing, and maybe a little sad, to hear them espouse how amazing their lives would be now if they had made different decisions 20 years ago.
I like a good daydream and sometimes wonder where different choices might have taken me. For good or bad, you can never know whether a different path would have been better or worse. You can only control what you do in the present. Imagining a different history can be fun; dwelling in the past can prevent you from enjoying the present.
What do you do to live in the now?
Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.

Feedback
If someone is not meeting your expectations, do you tell them or do they need to figure it out for themselves? If they do something that amazes you, do you praise them or hope they know you're happy? The more significant the feedback, the sooner you should...
Practice
I had an interesting discussion yesterday with a fellow coach. We were exploring the idea of learning versus practice. We sometimes use the terms interchangeably, but do they mean the same thing? If you decide to learn a new skill, it might take while to...
Keep getting better
Thanks to everyone who attended our movement classes this month! It was great to see people having fun, moving better and gaining confidence. Someone asked if she can get back to how good she was 20 years ago. I’m not sure, but I know if you invest at least 10-minutes...
It happened for a reason
When bad things happen, it might be consoling to think, “It happened for a reason.” Later when things are much better, you can look back and see how tough events led you to a better place. People often point to their toughest times as the keys to their eventual...
